The fellowship, one of the highest honours bestowed by Nigeria’s foremost literary body, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the promotion of literature, scholarship, and creative writing in Nigeria.

Barr. Ezeokenwa described Prof. Chuma-Udeh’s investiture as a well-deserved recognition of her decades-long dedication to education, literature, and youth development. According to him, her outstanding career as a teacher, writer, and public servant reflects the ideals of excellence, service, and creativity that APGA stands for. He emphasized that her achievements continue to inspire many within and beyond the literary community, particularly young women aspiring to make an impact through knowledge and education.

Prof. Ngozi Theresa Chuma-Udeh, a Professor of English with specialization in African and Comparative Literature, has distinguished herself as a scholar, novelist, poet, and orator. Before her appointment as Anambra State Commissioner for Education, she served as the University Orator at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University) from 2012 to 2017 and was also the Chairperson of the Anambra State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors. Her academic and administrative contributions have significantly advanced literary studies and educational reforms in Anambra State.

The APGA National Chairman lauded Prof. Chuma-Udeh’s transformative leadership in the Anambra State Ministry of Education, noting that her policies have positioned the state as a national model in educational excellence and innovation. He noted that her passion for improving learning outcomes, training teachers, and integrating technology into education has continued to yield measurable results, earning her respect across the academic and political spectrum.

Barr. Ezeokenwa also used the opportunity to commend the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) for upholding a tradition of celebrating excellence and for recognizing individuals whose intellectual and cultural contributions have enriched Nigeria’s creative landscape. He remarked that ANA’s decision to honour Prof. Chuma-Udeh was both timely and fitting, given her lifelong advocacy for literature, women empowerment, and child education.

He further stated that APGA takes great pride in the achievements of its members and public officials, particularly those whose work exemplifies the values of diligence, integrity, and service to humanity. According to him, Prof. Chuma-Udeh’s recognition as an ANA Fellow not only honours her personal achievements but also reflects the visionary leadership of the APGA-led administration in Anambra State under Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, who continues to champion education and human capital development.

Barr. Ezeokenwa concluded by wishing Prof. Chuma-Udeh greater success in her academic and administrative pursuits, urging her to continue serving as a beacon of inspiration to writers, educators, and public servants across the country. He reaffirmed APGA’s commitment to supporting excellence in all sectors, particularly in education and the arts, as critical pillars for the sustainable development and moral rejuvenation of the Nigerian society.
