APGA LEADERSHIP DEBUNKS FALSE DEFECTION CLAIMS, AFFIRMS PARTY’S STRENGTH IN OYO STATE
The leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the South West has strongly refuted and unequivocally condemned a widely circulated report alleging mass defections from the party in Oyo State, describing the publication as false, misleading, and a calculated attempt to misinform the public.
In a joint statement issued by the National Vice Chairman (South West), Alhaji Suraj Owolabi, and the Oyo State Chairman of the party, Mr. Gbenga, the party dismissed the report credited to Comrade Adeshina Adewale, popularly known as “Excel,” as baseless and lacking any iota of credibility.
The APGA leaders categorically stated that Comrade Adeshina Adewale is no longer a member of the party, having been expelled long ago over acts of anti-party activities. They emphasized that he does not possess the moral or legal standing to speak on behalf of APGA in any capacity.
According to the statement, Adewale is currently a card-carrying member of another political party, and his claims regarding defections within APGA are nothing more than deliberate falsehoods aimed at creating confusion and gaining undue political attention.
The party leadership further clarified that no member of APGA in Oyo State, including party executives at the state, local government, or ward levels, has defected as falsely reported. They stressed that the structure of the party across the state remains solid, functional, and fully intact.
Describing the report as a fabrication, the South West and Oyo State leadership maintained that APGA in Oyo State is experiencing steady growth and consolidation, rather than disintegration as mischievously portrayed in the said publication.
They revealed that, contrary to the claims of mass defection, the party has recently recorded significant influx of new members, including defectors from the ruling party in the state, thereby strengthening its grassroots presence and political relevance.
The leadership also noted that APGA in Oyo State is currently engaged in an ongoing membership registration exercise aimed at expanding its base and providing opportunities for interested Nigerians to join the party and contribute to its progressive vision.
Members of the public and political stakeholders were therefore urged to disregard the false report in its entirety, as it does not reflect the true situation within the party but rather represents a desperate attempt to undermine its rising profile..
